Members feature: Nadia Steiber

We are pleased to officially welcome Nadia Steiber from the Department of Sociology to the research network Data Science @ Uni Vienna!

Nadia Steiber is Professor of Social Stratification and Quantitative Methods at the Department of Sociology at the University of Vienna (since 2020). Having held positions at the European University Institute in Florence, the IIASA World Population Program in Laxenburg, and the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) in Vienna, she has built a profile in quantitative social research on inequality, employment, families, and life-course processes. She is strongly involved in building the data infrastructure for register data research in the social sciences in Austria and is actively engaged in initiatives aimed at making administrative data more accessible for social science research. She was also closely involved in setting up the Austrian Socio-Economic Panel (ASEP), a major new household panel for Austria linking survey and register data, and serves as Chair of ASEP’s Scientific Advisory Board. Her research interests focus on social stratification and social inequality, work and employment, family sociology, life-course analysis, and quantitative methods.
